Vox AC15 - Full Walkthrough & Demo
🎛️ The Iconic 15-Watt Tube Amp
The Vox AC15C1 is one of the most recognised tube amplifiers ever made — a 15-watt all-valve amp that delivers that unmistakable British chime favoured by everyone from The Beatles and The Rolling Stones to Radiohead and Tom Petty. It's Landon's personal favourite amp and the one he returns to again and again.
In this 11-minute walkthrough, Landon covers every single setting on the AC15C1 — what each control does, how they interact, and how the amp sounds across different playing styles with both humbuckers and single-coil pickups. This is the practical guide the official manual should have been.
The comments say it all: "This is the manual we all needed." "One of the best demos on this amp I've seen." Multiple viewers have credited this video with convincing them to buy an AC15.

🎛️ Every Setting Explained
The Two Channels
Normal Channel
The warmer, darker of the two channels. A single Volume control with no tone shaping beyond the shared Tone Cut. Best for clean tones, warm jazz-ish sounds, and players who want the amp to stay clean at louder volumes. Slightly less gain on tap than the Top Boost.
Top Boost Channel
The classic Vox sound. Has its own Treble and Bass controls in addition to Volume. Brighter and more cutting than the Normal channel, with more available gain. This is the channel most associated with the Vox "chime" — the jangly top end that made the AC15 and AC30 famous.
Key Controls
Tone Cut
One of the most misunderstood controls on any amp. It works backwards from what you'd expect — turn it up and it cuts high-end frequencies, turn it down and the highs open up. Essential for taming the brightness of the Top Boost channel, particularly with a Telecaster or other bright guitar.
Master Volume
Controls overall output volume without affecting tone. Allows you to run the channel volumes higher (for more preamp character and saturation) while keeping the overall amp volume manageable at home. Key to getting the AC15 to sound its best at lower volumes.
Tremolo
Tube-driven tremolo with Speed and Depth controls. The AC15's tremolo is warm and organic — a significant step above the digital tremolo found in solid-state amps. Speed controls the rate, Depth controls the intensity. At subtle settings it adds just a gentle pulse to clean tones.
Reverb
Spring reverb tank. Adds genuine room ambience and depth. At lower settings it opens up the amp's sound beautifully. At higher settings the spring character becomes very pronounced — splashy and surf-like. Best kept moderate for general playing.
⏱️ Video Chapters
The AC15C1 is Landon's personal amp of choice. Surprisingly loud for 15 watts, genuinely versatile across rock, blues, and country, and handles pedals exceptionally well. The built-in tremolo and reverb are top-tier. If you've been on the fence about a tube amp, the AC15 is one of the most recommended starting points at its price — and the Tone Cut is a game changer once you understand how it works.
