Building a Custom Fender Telecaster with Roasted Maple Neck - From Start to Finish!
🎸 The Build
Landon builds another complete Fender Telecaster partscaster from scratch — this time centred around a roasted maple neck, Fender's Custom Shop Twisted Tele pickups, and the Obsidianwire 4-way switching kit that gives the guitar four distinct pickup combinations instead of the standard three.
Every part is a genuine Fender component sourced from their official catalog. The full 52-minute video covers everything from unboxing parts through to final setup, intonation, and tone demos through two amps — the Marshall DSL20HR and the Vox AC15CH.
Landon also compares the cost of building this way against an equivalent Fender Mod Shop build, showing exactly how much you save by doing it yourself.
🔩 The Complete Parts List
All genuine Fender components. Fender part numbers included where applicable.
Telecaster Roasted Maple Neck
The centrepiece. Roasted maple has a distinctive tobacco-brown appearance, improved resistance to humidity changes, and a vintage-worn feel from day one.
Fender Twisted Tele Pickups
Fender's Custom Shop Twisted Tele set — the neck pickup uses a Strat-style design in a Tele format, giving a warmer, fuller neck tone than a standard Telecaster neck pickup.
Obsidianwire 4-Way Telecaster Kit
Adds a 4th switch position to the standard 3-way Telecaster switch — neck and bridge pickups in series. A classic Tele mod that adds a thick, humbucker-like tone. Completely solderless install.
